Indonesian Comic development

Before the the reformation era,comic was so thrived in indonesia. First, Before indonesian comics affected by foreign style like american comics style or manga, indonesia had its own comic Style. the tipical theme were teen roman, silat, Comedy, and Wayang. round 1950, Indonesian comic artist Found a new Idea to made His comic genre,that was SUPERHERO, adaptation from american comic style(like superman,wonderwoman,etc)I Think i just like to read silat comic haha.

The figure in this era was R.A Kosasih, a comic artist that wrote 'bout heroism.his famous work in that time was Sri Asih,He made A lot of progress in that time, many comic artist were followed his trail because his success.

Because of too many Superhero comics, they was criticized by many humanist,they were considered that indonesian comic was too following the west culture. then the comic artist found a new way,they took an indonesia culture to placed in the comic,it was a wayang comic.one of the wayang comic is mahabarata and ramayana.

 In Globalisation Era,the world has changed too much, then appear a new style more to indonesia,that was Manga. now, almost 90% comic artis in indonesia in use this style to draw,however the heroic genre is still used but the artwork is still following a manga,

 

So I think Indonesian Comic artist Must  know and learn bout Indonesian comics in the past, like sukarno(first indonesian president) said "A big Country is a country that know his own History"
